Our Mobile Pantry program provides food to our neighbors in need every day!

Food from the Dare to Care warehouse is taken out into our 13-county service area and distributed with the help of volunteers like you. The Mobile Pantry ensures families can access food regardless of where they live. Dare to Care brings food directly to an identified food desert and sets up a temporary pantry on a consistent, scheduled basis.

On the 1st Tuesday of each month, our Mobile Pantry will make a stop at Portland PACT. Help is needed from 2 volunteers.

Volunteers are needed to:

set-up tables to place food on (stations will be set up with at least 6 feet of distance between each). help distribute food (clients will be appropriately distanced and one will be served at a time in each station). help consolidate large amounts of produce into smaller bags. add certain foods into boxes to make it easier for quick distribution. break down boxes and collect plastic for recycling.

Additional Information:

Closed-toe shoes are required for volunteers. Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. As a reminder, this is a community-focused and family-friendly volunteer setting - clothing should allow you to move easily and help ensure everyone feels comfortable and respected. Volunteers can check-in via their phone app or email to track hours. When you arrive, there may be a line of cars forming - this is the distribution line. Do not pull into the distribution line. Please continue around the distribution line to park, find a Dare to Care staff member and let them know you are there to volunteer.  This opportunity will last until we run out of food. This schedule is subject to change - please check email and voicemail messages for notice of cancellations.

If you have any specific concerns or accommodation requests, please contact anna.foshee@daretocare.org so we can assist you in navigating and participating in our volunteer activities comfortably. Your safety and inclusion are our top priorities.

This volunteer opportunity and volunteer attendance are crucial to operations and feeding our clients. If you are unable to make a volunteer shift, please unregister, or contact anna.foshee@daretocare.org. A no-show without notification may result in removal from future volunteer shifts.

Masks or are currently optional for Dare to Care volunteers, but if you or anyone in your home feels ill, is quarantined for health reasons, or has a fever, please stay home.

Volunteer: Help our partner agency Exodus Family Ministries with food pickup and delivery.

If you are interested or have questions, please reach out to Shane Schlatter or Tom Jacks by calling (502) 614-8544. Responding via Dare to Care's website does not confirm your volunteer status.

Exodus Family Ministries, located in Southwest Louisville, is seeking volunteers to assist with our food pantry in the following ways;

Pickup/Delivery Drivers- Volunteers would be placed on a rotation to pick up food from Dare to Care on Fern Valley Rd and delivery it to our pantry on Bethany Lane.  Our pickups can fluctuate although they are generally on Friday’s between 7:30am and 8:30am.  This would require someone that could lift upwards of 40lbs and that has access to a vehicle that could easy hold 400-500lbs of food.  Once the food is picked up from Dare to Care, the volunteer would meet other volunteers at the food pantry who would help get the food unloaded and put in the proper locations.

Food Box Delivery Drivers- This role is becoming a very important part of our ministry. We currently help deliver food boxes to people throughout all of Louisville that do not have the means to get to a local food pantry.  As a volunteer, we would put you on a rotation to do porch drop-offs to homes around the Louisville area.  We would not require or encourage you to go into any home.  You would simply place the box in a secure location near the door and call the client after you return to your car.  This would require a vehicle that could hold up to 3 to 4 food boxes at a time with the boxes weighing between 20 – 30 lbs a piece.  This can be done at any time (within reason) throughout the day of your rotation.

Our volunteers are very important to us and allow us the capability to reach those in need throughout our community.

If you have questions or would like more information please reach out to either Shane Schlatter or Tom Jacks by calling our number (502) 614-8544.

The Center for Lay Ministries Food Pantry in Jeffersonville serves the residents of Clark County, Indiana. We are seeking volunteers to help fill multiple needs.

CLM is in great need of a box truck driver to help with our regularly scheduled multi-stop food pickups from area grocery stores. This volunteer would help by driving our box truck to various locations, loading food items onto the box truck, and unloading the shipment at our food pantry upon return. If possible, we would like to utilize this volunteer for other driving opportunities as well. This volunteer can help fill-in for our regularly scheduled drivers while they are out on vacation or if they are out sick. We have an immediate opening for a driver on Monday mornings. This shift typically takes 3 hours to complete.

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to help in our pantry. Typical volunteer tasks include preparing boxes of non-perishable food items, filling grocery carts with fresh food and produce, transporting food items out to clients, and helping stock pantry shelves. Our greatest needs are on Mondays from 1:30 - 3:30, Wednesdays from 1:30 - 3:30, and Fridays from 11:00 - 1:30. However, we can always use volunteers at any time, so if you are interested please let us know!
