Mission: Bringing Justice Home is a Louisville nonprofit that fosters health and wellness for people experiencing poverty, food insecurity, and chronic health conditions through the delivery of food and household supplies, and by facilitating access to needed services, and offering social support, while seeking to engage the community in the work of justice through education, sharing resources, and building just relationships. Volunteers are the face of our organization and at the heart of all that we do and are. 

 

Summary: Grocery Bringer volunteers with Bringing Justice Home will perform a variety of tasks in assistance to the primary mission of shopping for and delivering groceries and household supplies to neighbors with special needs. Volunteering with Bringing Justice Home assumes a willingness to reach out to those unlike ourselves in a nonjudgmental, compassionate way. 

 

Grocery Bringers pick up curbside Kroger orders and deliver them to neighbors' homes. Volunteers in this role should be able to commit to at least two hours per week. Volunteers will also complete online training and a background check.

The Center for Lay Ministries Food Pantry in Jeffersonville serves the residents of Clark County, Indiana. We are seeking volunteers to help fill multiple needs.

CLM is in great need of a box truck driver to help with our regularly scheduled multi-stop food pickups from area grocery stores. This volunteer would help by driving our box truck to various locations, loading food items onto the box truck, and unloading the shipment at our food pantry upon return. If possible, we would like to utilize this volunteer for other driving opportunities as well. This volunteer can help fill-in for our regularly scheduled drivers while they are out on vacation or if they are out sick. We have an immediate opening for a driver on Monday mornings. This shift typically takes 3 hours to complete.

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to help in our pantry. Typical volunteer tasks include preparing boxes of non-perishable food items, filling grocery carts with fresh food and produce, transporting food items out to clients, and helping stock pantry shelves. Our greatest needs are on Mondays from 1:30 - 3:30, Wednesdays from 1:30 - 3:30, and Fridays from 11:00 - 1:30. However, we can always use volunteers at any time, so if you are interested please let us know!

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with some of our Food Pantry needs.  Neighborhood House is in need of a driver to help with scheduled pick-ups from the Dare To Care warehouse.  This volunteer would help by

Driving the Neighborhood House truck or van to the  DTC warehouse Loading food items into the vehicle and delivering them to Neighborhood House We would also like to utilize this volunteer to help with other driving opportunities as well.  We have multiple residents who are unable to travel to Neighborhood House Food Pantry either because of disability, age, or lack of transportation. This volunteer would be delivering food boxes/items to these residents at a scheduled time one time per month.   Volunteers for the opportunity must be 21+ years old with a valid driver's license and clean driving record (they would be put on our insurance if utilizing our vehicle)., and have the ability to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to help in our food pantry.  A typical volunteer is tasked with (at the moment)

Preparing boxes of non-perishable food items Restocking shelves Assisting residents with their food boxes.  Our greatest needs for this volunteer position are when our food pantry is open, Monday-Friday from 10am-1pm.  We also are in need of volunteers during the 1st Wednesday of the month for food delivery and stocking as well as the first Thursday and Friday of the month which tends to be our peak times for the food pantry.   Volunteers for this opportunity must be 15+ years old, and will be standing for the duration of the time (3 hours).
