Greetings! Due to the cancellation of our mobile pantry this past Saturday while our warehouse was out of power, we are hoping to reach more families at our Hunger Action Month Pop-Up Mobile Pantry. We are looking for support from 10 volunteers as we distribute meals at our Parkland location - 1200 S 28th St - this Thursday 8/31 to kick off Hunger Action Month. Thank you for stepping in for this last minute volunteer opportunity, we so appreciate your support!
Our Mobile Pantry program provides food to our neighbors in need every day. Food from the Dare to Care warehouse is taken out into our 13-county service area and distributed with the help of volunteers. We are excited to host a one time pop-up pantry in our Community Kitchen parking lot located in the Parkland neighborhood during hunger action month!
Volunteers will have the opportunity to:
- help greet guests distribute food into their vehicles as they come through the drive through
- help consolidate large amounts of produce into smaller bags
- add certain foods into boxes to make it easier for quick distribution to clients
- distribute food into client's vehicles as they come through the "drive through"
- break down boxes and collect plastic for recycling
This opportunity will last until we run out of food--expect about 2 hours but no longer than 3 hours. Closed-toe shoes are required for volunteers.
UPDATE: Masks are currently optional for all volunteer opportunities.
