Description

Thank you for participating in Dare to Care's inaugural "Food Fight" day of service on Friday, September 8th during Hunger Action Month! You are part of a wave of volunteering happening that day across Kentuckiana. Dare to Care Food Bank runs many programs, but the biggest way we get food to our food insecure neighbors s through our nearly 300 partners, both large and small. When you support Dare to Care, you support all of these partners.

"The purpose of the Wayside Christian Mission is to respond to the human need of the poor and homeless by (1) providing temporary housing/shelter, food, clothing, nurturing, spiritual and social enrichment, encouragement and referrals (2) and by providing the support services and skills that would permit and encourage a return to a state of self-sufficiency so that human dignity can be restored and the love of God can be shared." You can find more information about Wayside Christian Mission here!

Volunteers will have the opportunity to:

  • Prep and serve an ethnic meal for the homeless clients at the shelter. Clients have voted for a soul food meal. We will have ribs, greens, cornbread, chitlins, mac & cheese, black eyed peas etc.

Parking Information:

  • Parking lot on Jefferson, report to the front desk in the lobby of the building

Day of on-site contact:
