Join us in the Main Distribution Center Warehouse!
Dare to Care relies on food donations in order to support our neighbors in need. When food is donated through food/fund drives, retail partnerships, or other means, it needs to be sorted in our warehouse before it is ready for an agency to distribute.
We rely on volunteers daily to help inspect food and sort it into appropriate categories. Other projects during this volunteer shift can include labeling food, consolidating large bags of produce into smaller bags, creating food boxes for clients, and more.
Requirements:
- Close-toed shoes
- Standing, some walking and may include light lifting (less than 20 pounds).
- Volunteers need to be at least 15 years old (if a volunteer is 14 years old, they must be accompanied by a guardian).
Additional Information:
- The warehouse is frequently busy with the sounds of forklifts and pallet jacks moving throughout the space, and the occasional beeps of equipment.
- Various pieces of equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and shelving units, are stationed throughout the warehouse. Caution is advised around moving equipment.
- Volunteers and staff often communicate over the noise, so there might be raised voices.
- The space is well-lit with overhead lighting, but some areas may have varying levels of brightness.
- There are lockers with locks provided to store your personal belongings while you are volunteering.
- Please do not bring more volunteers than what you have signed up for.
- This schedule is subject to change - please check email and voicemail messages for notice of cancellations.
If you have any specific concerns or accommodation requests, please contact anna.foshee@daretocare.org so we can assist you in navigating and participating in our volunteer activities comfortably. Your safety and inclusion are our top priorities.
This volunteer opportunity and volunteer attendance are crucial to operations and feeding our clients. If you are unable to make a volunteer shift, please unregister, or contact anna.foshee@daretocare.org. A no-show without notification may result in removal from future volunteer shifts.
