Calling all Green Thumbs!
We are looking for a few volunteers to help us prep our community kitchen's garden beds for this year's growing season! Our garden beds are located at Parkland Plaza park, just across the street from the community kitchen. Garden plots are 10’ x 3’ and are only a few inches off the ground. We are looking for a crew of volunteers to help us clean out the beds, pull weeds, lay compost and plant new herbs. If you love being outside and digging in the dirt, you're in good company and we look forward to seeing you there! :)
Opportunity may include:
- Clearing beds and picking up trash
- Pulling weeds (we have some stubborn vine-like weeds)
- Dispose of trash/weeds
- Laying down fresh compost and amending soil
- Planting new herb seeds and/or seedlings
We do have a few basic tools, but please plan to bring your own:
- Work gloves
- Shovel/spade, garden fork, etc
- Hat and/or sunscreen
- Kneeling pad if desired
Let's plan to meet at the Community Kitchen first to assemble and store any personal items in lockers before heading over to the garden plot!
