Sister Visitor Center (SVC) is located in West Louisville serving the Portland, Russell and Shawnee neighborhoods. In February 2021, SVC opened a Client Choice Food Pantry where clients will be given the opportunity to personally select their monthly grocery order and household items in a supermarket-style space.
Volunteer opportunities:

Choice Food Pantry:
- Personal Shopper: Welcome clients, select food from shelves, track food point system, stock shelves and provide general support.
- Assist with food deliveries: Drive food to participant’s home and drop if off on the porch, obtain client’s signature. Volunteers do not enter client’s home.
-- Personal Shopper: Monday – Friday 9:00a-12:00p (2 people each slot)
This volunteer will be asked to welcome clients, select food from shelves, track food point system, stock shelves and provide general support to the Food Pantry Coordinator. This volunteer will work directly with clients.
-- Sorting and Stocking Pantry Shelves: Daily 8:30a – 10:00a / 3:00p – 4:30p (1 person per shift)
This volunteer will be asked to unpack boxes, inspect food for damages or expiration, stock shelves and provide general support to the Food Pantry Coordinator. This volunteer will not work directly with clients.
-- Unload Dare to Care Truck: First Tuesday of every month – 8:30a – 10:00a (2-3 people)
This volunteer will be asked to unload and move boxes from a box truck (up to 25 lbs.), inspect food for damages or expiration, stock shelves and provide general support to the Food Pantry Coordinator. This volunteer will not work directly with clients.
