Volunteer in our warehouse (food sorting) - September 2022

Expired

Description

This schedule is subject to change--please check email and voicemail messages for notice of cancellations.

Dare to Care relies on food donations in order to support our neighbors in need. When food is donated through food/fund drives, retail partnerships, or other means, it needs to be sorted in our warehouse before it is ready for an agency to distribute.

We rely on volunteers daily to help inspect food and sort it into appropriate categories. Other projects during this volunteer shift can include labeling food, consolidating large bags of produce into smaller bags, creating food boxes for clients, and more.

We have limited all volunteer shifts to no more than 12 volunteers at a time--please do not bring more volunteers than what you have signed up for. These projects require volunteers to be at least 14 years old and to wear closed-toe shoes in order to participate. If a volunteer is under the age of 16 they must be accompanied by a guardian to volunteer. The projects also require walking and may include light lifting (less than 20 pounds).

There are lockers with locks provided to store your personal belongings while you are volunteering.

UPDATE: Masks/face coverings are currently optional. IF YOU OR ANYONE IN YOUR HOME FEELS ILL OR IS QUARANTINED FOR HEALTH REASONS, PLEASE STAY HOME.
