Help us create food boxes for low-income seniors!
This volunteer opportunity supports the nearly 4,600 food boxes needed each month for low-income seniors in Kentuckiana. Volunteers work on an assembly line to place food items into boxes through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.
What to expect:
- Closed toe shoes are required.
- Volunteers will be on their feet standing, though accommodations can be made.
- Light lifting (about 35lbs) will be required from 1-2 volunteers
Additional Information:
- The warehouse is frequently busy with the sounds of forklifts and pallet jacks moving throughout the space, and the occasional beeps of equipment.
- Various pieces of equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and shelving units, are stationed throughout the warehouse. Caution is advised around moving equipment.
- Volunteers and staff often communicate over the noise, so there might be raised voices.
- The space is well-lit with overhead lighting, but some areas may have varying levels of brightness.
Directions and Parking:
The warehouse is located in the Big “A” Shopping Center off Cane Run Road and Algonquin Parkway. If you turn into the center at the Big “A” take the first right, go to the stop sign and take a left. You will need to go to the end of the parking lot towards the flag poles, turn right at the flag poles and come behind the building. We are located directly behind the Northwood Machinery business. There is ample parking outside the warehouse.
